What is Cosmetic or Facial Enhancement Acupuncture?

The term “Cosmetic” is used because of the focus and outcome from the treatment.  Facial Enhancement Acupuncture focusses on a complete approach designed to improve the collagen and elastin production in the skin as well as to balance the general health of the patient.  The overall result of this dual approach is a younger looking, firmer and revitalized face.

What can I expect during a Facial Enhancement Acupuncture treatment?

The treatment can be divided into five sections:

  1. Consultation
  2. Needling the distal points (legs and arms)
  3. Needling the face
  4. Facial massage
  5. Auricle points.

During the consultation it will be established what the concerns of the patient is and what they would like to achieve from the treatments. Treatment procedure is thoroughly explained to the patient as well as the realistic outcome which can be achieved.  Generally a before and after photos are taken to show the results.

The distal points in the legs and arms will help to improve the general well-being of the patient as well as improve circulation, have an analgesic effect on the body and help to detoxify the body.

The facial needling includes the forehead, neck and face.  These needles are placed on strategic points to lift and tighten the muscles and skin. After this small needles are inserted in the lines and wrinkles to lift and relax.

The facial massage will help to relax the patient, improve lymphatic drainage and detox, support capillary circulation, tone the facial muscles and combat the signs of ageing.  An aromatherapy serum is used for the facial massage with specialized techniques which will enhance the experience and benefits of the treatments.

Small mustard seeds are then place in the ear on specific auricle points. The patient is then instructed to apply pressure on these points between treatments to enhance the effect of the Facial Enhancement Acupuncture.

The entire treatment time would take around 90 minutes.

Why should I consider Facial Enhancement Acupuncture instead of plastic surgery, Botox or fillers?

Plastic surgery, Botox and fillers are an invasive procedure which needs to be repeated on a regular basis too. Plastic surgery needs to be repeated every 7 to 10 years and the procedure is costly, the health risks are high and it will compromise the natural appearance of the face. Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is not a surgical face lift. It can turn back the “clock” and also helps to slow down the ageing process. Your appearance will also look natural and reflect your improved health and well-being. As previously mentioned, there is no health risk involved, no recovery time and the results are instant. With both Facial Enhancement Acupuncture and plastic surgery, Botox or fillers you need to focus on your lifestyle, diet and home care program to maintain your results.

What if I’ve already had plastic surgery, Botox or fillers to address ageing?

Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is a good adjunct therapy to help the healing process, soften the scars and improve blood circulation to the area around the surgical site as well as the surrounding areas. In addition, if surgery has been recent it has been found that acupuncture can improve the healing of scars and help you to feel energetic in a shorter period of time.

Who is a good candidate of Facial Enhancement Acupuncture?

The sooner you start the better. Beginning the treatment process during a time when the damage is being done but not yet seen is optimal. Generally speaking, this is occurring in the thirties. Collagen and elastin begin to break down, cell turnover and oil production slows. A good candidate for Facial Enhancement Acupuncture is someone who wants to look and feel his/her best but does not want surgery.
